Students get musical at Beechworth
On Tuesday 3 June Year 7 and 8 students from the three Locksley ensembles and staff departed for the historical town of Beechworth located in the north-east of Victoria. Nestled amongst old world gardens, The Old Priory Guesthouse provided accommodation for students and staff as well as spacious indoor areas for multiple rehearsal sessions each day. These rehearsal sessions gave students the opportunity to learn new pieces and perfect their repertoire.
The three ensembles performed on Friday of the music camp, showcasing the progress they had achieved throughout the week. Each ensemble demonstrated improvement, which meant that they were more prepared for the Ridgeway Ensembles Concert on Thursday 19 June, an enjoyable evening for audience and performers alike.
The Music Curriculum includes a wonderful instrumental program that caters for beginners and experienced musicians and provides a nurturing environment for students to develop and refine their musical abilities.
The refurbished Visual and Performing Arts precinct, ArtsEdge at Locksley, provides students a variety of features including a state of the art music rehearsal room, a purpose built Mac Lab and professional audio and recording studio. ArtsEdge at Locksley allows students to fully immerse themselves in their craft as well as showcase their work to parents and the wider school community.
Music students at Ivanhoe Grammar School can take part in Performance Ensembles, Orchestra, String Orchestra, Wind Band, Choir, Jazz & Chamber Ensembles, Quartets and Quintets. For more information click here
