His aid work has taken him to countries such as Sudan, Palestine and Afghanistan where he met child soldiers, negotiated with rebels and narrowly escaped imprisonment.
Paralympian and sports mentor, Sam broke the 100m Butterfly world record at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games at the age of 16. In 2009 Sam was awarded with the Order of Australia Medal for services to his country and for being a role model for his younger team mates. Sam currently works within the sports industry as well as making regular speaking appearances.
