Global Citizenship

Being a ‘good citizen’ has been a focus at Ivanhoe Grammar School since our foundation in 1915 and our service and leadership activities continue to define the School’s culture.

In the 21st Century, these activities have evolved into international awareness, expanding the definition of good citizens to being good global citizens. Supporting students to develop a global outlook has seen the School adopt many initiatives that embed this global focus into all areas of school life.

Simple awareness activities are incorporated with students from all year levels, both in the classroom and in their co-curricular pursuits. Using the UN Global Goals as a foundation, Ivanhoe Grammar School students are regularly asked to consider how these goals can be reached and the future they want to see grow from their own actions. As a result, student-led initiatives have flourished in areas such as environmental awareness, gender equality and community wellbeing.

Ivanhoe Grammar School is proud to be part of the Round Square International Network and our commitment to this vision of global citizenship has seen us establish Australia’s first school-based Global Citizenship Centre.
