Sports
The sporting program at Ivanhoe Grammar School encourages active participation, fitness and fun.
All students are encouraged to enjoy a range of different sports, whether working towards a personal best or being a team player, and we offer a comprehensive selection of sports year round.
Primary Sport at Ivanhoe Grammar School provides opportunities for students to develop their motor skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Students participate in physical education classes and have the opportunity to compete at House carnivals and inter-school competitions. The Primary Sport program emphasises maximum participation while developing fundamental games skills and fosters a sense of fair play and sporting spirit.
In the Secondary Years, all students take part in the School’s sporting program both in the Summer and Winter seasons. They train in their chosen sport during the week and play on either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. A wide variety of sporting opportunities are available and the School is a member of both the AGSV and APS sporting competitions. Both of these organisations have very strong traditions and aim to encourage a high standard of sporting skill and inter-school camaraderie.
Sports on offer in 2021 include: Aerobics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Kayaking, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Snow Sports, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch Football, Volleyball and Water Polo.
