Years 7-11 Graduate Art & Design Exhibition
From 6 -13 September ArtsEdge at Locksley was completely transformed into a vibrant exhibition space of student work. The 2023 Years 7-11 Art and Design Exhibition officially opened on Wednesday 6 September and showcased innovative and engaging student work from Art, Media, Product Design and Technology and Visual Communication Design.
The exhibition was officially opened by Seth Searle a Melbourne-based artist who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of Arts and a Diploma of Arts (Visual Art) from RMIT University. Seth has widely exhibited her work in both group and solo exhibitions. This year Seth worked with us on two occasions, leading our students in a series of oil painting workshops and gouache studies with our IDEALS students.
This year Cherian, a Year 11 student, was the proud recipient of the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians’ Association Encouragement Award in Arts. This award is the highlight of the Art & Design exhibition and was presented to Cherian by Alumni Coordinator Mirella Busso-Lee.
The Eckersley’s Art and Design awards were presented by Dani Scaramuzzino who has a long association with the Art & Design department. These awards were presented to:
- Arthur for his work in Product Design and Technology
- Charlotte for her work in IB Visual Arts
- Lars for his Year 11 Media Studies film project
Departmental excellence and special recognition awards were also presented to students from each of the Years 7 to 11 Art and Design classes.

- Archie (Year 8 VCD) – Excellence in the Visual Arts
- Max (Year 8 VCD & Textiles) – Special Recognition Award
- Phil (Year 10 Media) – Excellence in the Visual Arts
- Marissa (Year 10 VCD and Media) – Special Recognition Award
- Ale (Year 11 Studio Arts) – Excellence in the Visual Arts
- Charli (Year 11 PDT, VCD & AME) – Special Recognition Award
- Laura – ELICOS ART Award
