Year 11 Media Students Go Behind the Scenes at the F1 Grand Prix

Year 11 Media students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exhilarating world of the 2025 Formula 1 at Albert Park.

Armed with cameras and notebooks, they captured breathtaking footage and stunning photographs of the event, experiencing firsthand the fast-paced environment of motorsport journalism.

The highlight of the day was an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour led by James Wharton—an Ivanhoe Grammar School alum and rising motorsport star—alongside his father, Shane. As he prepared for his highly anticipated Formula 3 debut with ART Grand Prix, James took time out of his schedule to offer invaluable insights into the world of professional racing.

Students were given a rare opportunity to see James’ car up close as it underwent final preparations for a crucial systems check. They witnessed the meticulous attention to detail and the seamless teamwork required to compete at this elite level. From learning about race strategy and car engineering to understanding the mental and physical demands of the sport, the experience was nothing short of inspiring.

A special thank you goes out to the Hopper family for their generous donation, which made this unforgettable opportunity possible. Their support allowed our students to gain firsthand exposure to the intersection of media, technology, and high-performance sport.
