Welcome Back
This week, on Tuesday 9 June we welcomed back the rest of our students from Years 3 – 10 after a two-month hiatus due to COVID-19. Since then, there have been a lot of smiles and laughter on campus and it has been wonderful to witness interactions between classmates and teachers in the classroom. Returning to face-to-face learning is the best outcome for both our students and staff.
Thank you to the whole school community for the way everyone worked together to make the best of this unique situation. It is a reflection of a strong community, of teachers, parents and students, together maintaining a single focus of providing the best for our students. We are very proud of the way everyone moved so swiftly to online learning and for the flexibility, innovation, resilience and kindness that everyone has displayed.
Ivanhoe Grammar School is working in line with the Victorian Government’s policy to reintroduce school activities on a staggered basis providing protections for activities to make them as safe as they can be within the practical limitations of the school environment and we are currently working on the most appropriate protocols to ensure the health and wellbeing of all people on campus. For all the latest updates please check the Latest Information section in School Updates on Ivanhoe Connect.
We can share some lovely reflections from our Primary students who recently returned to school.
Rose – Year 1: ‘I feel that it is nice we get to see all our friends. Overall, it is AMAZING to be back!’
Christopher – Year 2: ‘It felt good to come back to school because I can play with all my friends.’
Demi – Year 1: ‘I like to play at the playground at school and I really like seeing all my friends.’
Ari – Year 2: ‘Going back is better because we can play together and it is easier to do work.’
Elliot – Year 1: ‘When I came back I felt a bit nervous because I hadn’t seen anyone in a long, long time. I’m getting used to being here now. I like seeing all my friends.’
Peter – Foundation: ‘The thing I did not like about home-based learning was NO school!’
It is wonderful to have all of our students back at school and we know that the rest of Term 2 is going to be a busy and productive time for us all.
