Weekend wrap up
Despite slight trepidation in entering Firsts Competition, Ivanhoe’s Badminton girls have started brilliantly, winning both matches and now sit equal at the top of the ladder with Haileybury. And just as importantly, the 2nds and 3rds also had terrific wins on the weekend. Congratulations to Dean Diep who is developing a terrific group of enthusiastic girls.
The Girls’ Volleyball team once again had a tight tussle, eventually winning 3-2 against Caulfield and keeping their winning record in tact.
Likewise, the Boys’ Tennis team also remain undefeated, easily accounting for Camberwell 12-4.
The Cricket boys made the most of overcast conditions and dismissed Camberwell for just 96. A good run out from Tom Coulter, as well as some tight bowling (and a great one handed catch) from Jesse King (3/26), were the highlights of the innings. When the team batted, Jack Welham scored an unbeaten 42no to lead the team to victory.
Our Boys’ Basketball team continued their good form with a win over Camberwell, whilst our Boys’ Badminton team recorded their first win of the season with a convincing win over TPS.
In Table Tennis, the team performed creditably against a very strong opponent, eventually losing 5 rubbers to 10. The highlight of the morning was Zak Janetzki’s effort in the 5th game of his match. He was 9-3 down – and then proceeded to win the next 8 points to get the win! Well done Zak!
