Victorian and Tasmanian Round Square Cluster Mini-Conference

On Monday 8 August Ivanhoe Grammar School hosted the first ever Junior Round Square Conference.

The Round Square Discovery Framework defines the Spirit of Adventure as ‘characterised by those who push themselves beyond their perceived limits, cross boundaries and discover that they are capable of more than they thought’.

Students from Ivanhoe Grammar School and other schools came together to explore this theme through guest speakers and Barraza discussions.

Eight Buckley House Year 5 students attended the conference, alongside Year 5 students from the Plenty Campus, Ballarat Grammar, Billanook College, Scotch Oakburn College and Woodleigh School.

The day began with a welcome from Ian Hunter who related the theme of the day through the lense of indigenous history.

Basketball Champion and Head of Sport at Plenty Campus, Katrina Hibbert spoke about her sporting career with details regarding her college level, Women’s NBA and winning a Commonwealth Gold Medal.

Alumni and AFL Footballer, Kyle Langford from the Class of 2014 spoke to students about his school football journey, TAC, AFL draft process and becoming a Bomber at Essendon Football Club.

Overall it was a meaningful and insightful day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the conference especially the inspirational speakers and group activities.
