Valedictory Dinner 2017
At the end of last week, our Classes of 2017 attended their respective Valedictory Dinners.
The celebrations began on Thursday evening with Plenty Campus Year 12s at Leonda on the Yarra and continued on Friday evening with The Ridgeway Campus at Melbourne Town Hall.
The 2017 cohort was recognised for their hard work and commitment, but the emerging theme from both Head of Campus speeches was that of courage and community.
Head of The Ridgeway Campus, Mr Brendan Kelly stated in his address: “We hope we have made you a bit bolder. That you have the confidence to know you can achieve anything you set your mind to. But you do need to know that this school is also a bit like a home. It is a community who will always believe in you, and will always want to see you succeed.”
Similarly, Head of Plenty Campus, Mr Dan Brown, said the cohort had stepped up to his challenge at the beginning of the year to take responsible risks and get out of their comfort zone, but that his lasting image of these Year 12s will be their sense of unity. “You truly are a united group of young people and for that, you should be very proud. Take the positive community experiences you have had here into the new communities and alliances you will forge for the rest of your life.”
Principal Gerard Foley, drew inspiration from a hymn that was featured at the Scotts Church service, encouraging all Year 12s to draw the circle wider; continue to create communities like the Ivanhoe community, wherever you go in life.
Congratulations to the Class of 2017 on the conclusion of your school years at Ivanhoe. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours.
