Tournament of Minds
On Sunday 21 August at La Trobe University a group of Ivanhoe students from Years 7, 8 and 10 competed in Tournament of the Minds with the Science/Technology team receiving Honours.
Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a problem solving program for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. Teams solve challenges from a choice of the following disciplines; Applied Technology, Language Literature, Maths Engineering or Social Sciences.
TOM provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their problem solving skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way. The tournament also aims to enhance time management, enterprise, working as a team, thinking outside the square, utilising technology, working within a competitive environment and promote knowledge and appreciation of self and others.
Both teams were excited and nervous but everyone agreed their performance on the day was their best performance yet. The two Ivanhoe teams represented the School with pride, working well as a team. While problem solving their challenge, as a team of seven, they overcame obstacles demonstrating tolerance, co-operation and fair play.
