The Ivanhoe District Swimming Championships
On Wednesday 26 February, Buckley House took a small but strong squad of 26 swimmers to the Northcote Pool for the Ivanhoe District Swimming Championships. This is the first step on the way to possible State Final representation. Successful swimmers who reach the top two in this event go on to the Banyule Division meet next week. The next step after this is the Northern Region and then the State Finals.
Our swimmers were amazing all day, in the end, 24 of our squad of 26 finished in the top 2 in at least 1 event and made it through to next week’s Division Championships. In the six Freestyle relay events at the end of the carnival (U/12, U/11 & U10 in Boys and Girls) we won 5 and placed 2nd in the other.
Our swimmers deserve all their success. They have trained hard, attending morning sessions with the School team twice a week for 10 weeks, on top of all their personal and club sessions. Our Swimming captains Emily and Joel collected the ‘Champion Girls and Boys’ trophies.
