Student excels in Mathematics Competition

As part of the Mathematics program, all students have the opportunity to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), the World’s largest mathematics competition which attracts over 600,000 entries. Based solely around problem solving, the AMC presents an entirely different challenge to students than the usual rigours of Mathematics.

Year 11 student Sasha Stratov has been recognised for his outstanding Mathematical achievements at a presentation at Monash University. Sasha received a prize award in the Australian Intermediate Mathematics Competition, placing him in the top 0.3% of applicants, a wonderful achievement considering schools only enter their best Mathematicians into the competition.

He qualified to compete in the next round of the competition, The Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad. The Olympiad is a four hour paper encompassing 10 problems to ponder and Sasha was awarded a Distinction in this paper.

Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
