Student to compete at the National Inline Speed Skating Competition
Ivanhoe Grammar School student Will Wanless has been selected to be part of the Victorian Team for Inline Speed Skating and will compete at the national competition in Sydney in January. The selectors were at the Victorian championship last month, which was held over a weekend. Will managed to come third place in his division in both the 1km and 5km road events.
Will trains two nights a week, which includes off-skate training, and competes approximately every second weekend. He will now participate in extra training with the Victorian Team.
Will is extremely happy and proud to have been selected, and this will be his second time competing in the Nationals. He understands that the competition is extremely tough, but knows that the experience – whether he wins or loses – will make him a better skater.
He will also be viewed by selectors at this race with the possibility of being chosen for the team for the Oceania Championships to be held in New Zealand in March.
Congratulations to Will on this wonderful achievement.
