Sports Report

20 November 2017

It was VERY good weekend for Ivanhoe Sport.

It was a terrific round of sport last Saturday, culminating in 7 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws, and with one of the draws, the weather proved to be our nemesis!

Our cricketers once again batted very aggressively to record a very competitive total of 248, with Oscar Giardinazzo (67), James Wigginton (42), James Anderson (38) leading the way. When the rain came, we were certainly well placed, thanks to some accurate bowling from Ed Stock who took 3/12.

The boys’ tennis team had a tight tussle with Camberwell, as too did our volleyball boys who came from 0-2 down to win in 5 sets! A fantastic effort! And our badminton boys continued on their winning way with another commanding victory.

In girls’ sport, it was great to see the tennis girls have back to back victories, especially given the few hiccups (injuries, illness etc) that the team encountered in round 1.

Our softball girls were dominant again, scoring a whopping 20 runs, and our volleyball girls had a convincing win 3-0.

In badminton, our girls bounced back with a good solid win against Carey. Girls played well, with a special mention to Jemma Williams, Chelsea Zhou and Anny Xie who all played exceptionally well.
