Sports Report
The softball girls had to fight off a determined Carey outfit to record a 3rd win for the season, keeping us very much in touch with the top 4. Emma and Georgia Sands and Captain Brooklyn Hutton were particularly impressive.
Whilst our volleyball girls continued on their winning streak and outplayed Caulfield to win in 3 straight sets, our touch girls couldn’t get on the scoreboard against a strong Yarra Valley team.
Our Boys’ Tennis Team had a satisfying win against last year’s premiers Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. The value of having a committed team was very much in evidence when we skipped to a 6-2 lead after the doubles. And whilst 3 of the singles matches had to be cancelled, we were able to manage to win 3 of the 5 completed singles matches to take an unassailable lead.
After two straight losses, the basketball boys rebounded well to score a convincing win over Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School by 18 points. In one of the team’s best performances for the season, Jamie Koutoufides was very impressive, as too were Jakub Lloyd, Erik Kafritsas and Nicholas Stratov.
Unfortunately, our cricketers couldn’t maintain their unbeaten start to the season and went down to Penleigh Essendon Grammar School. Year 9 student Tom Mileto was the only batsman to stand up scoring a well compiled 51.
