On a wet and cold Friday afternoon, our 1st XVIII played with great grit and determination to defeat Camberwell by 7 goals. Nik Cox, coming off his selection in the Victorian metro u18 Team, was a key focal point up forward, whilst Ben Nikolovski also played well.

With a good win over Mentone, our Girls Senior Football Team are now in the top 4. The girls set a good lead at quarter time, but Mentone fought back to even the scores at half time; from there the Ivanhoe girls got back on top and were able to exert their authority and win well. Georgia Pirdis and Laura Mayne were excellent contributors, whilst Emily Gallagher, Kate Moorhen and Antonia O’Brien provided great support.

Our badminton boys have made it back to back wins with a narrow victory over Peninsula by just 8 games. Jordan Wang was once again a dominant player.

Unfortunately, both our Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Teams went down to two of the top teams in their respective competitions. Both teams were valiant in defeat but now face must wins games to stay in contention for a top 4 finish.

In the girl’s game, Helena Chetcuti scored a classy goal in the first half, whilst Sophie Donchos, despite constant attack from the Carey shooters, stayed calm and confident in goal. Also, Kristie Kriaris-Tsotras and Eleni Georgopoulos showed great commitment working tirelessly up and down the pitch throughout the match.

In the tightest match of the round, our Girls’ Basketball Team led by 9 points at ¾ time but finished tied at full time. Unfortunately, Carey proved too strong in overtime and eventually won by 5 points.  Georgia McBean played very well and displayed some excellent shooting.

The Boy’s Hockey Team also played a great game against Trinity but unfortunately went down by 2 goals in the end. It was simply a case of Trinity making more use of their opportunities in the circle than we did. Luke Brunton and Brigid Watson were solid contributors.
