Sod Turning Ceremony
It was a glorious Melbourne morning on Monday 4 August when the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Peter Kempen and Head of Plenty Campus, Mrs Deb Sukarna assembled at Plenty Campus for a Sod Turning Ceremony to commemorate the beginning of construction of the exciting and innovative new facility designed for Senior Years students.
Invited guests, School Captains and staff assembled at the Administration Centre. From here they walked to the Senior Years’ building site where the sod was turned by the Chairman with assistance from the Head of Plenty Campus.
A sod turning ceremony, also referred to as ground breaking, is a traditional ceremony that celebrates the first day of construction for a building. The new Senior Years building will house ten new classrooms and breakout areas, specialist Primary and Middle Years science laboratory and three specialist senior years' science laboratories.
At the conclusion of the Ceremony, guests were then ushered to the Boardroom where morning tea was served to commemorate the exciting occasion.
