On Friday 31 May, spoken word poet and founder of the Pakistan Poetry Slam, Zohab Zee Khan conducted a Poetry Bootcamp Workshop for students in Years 7 and 8. Kohab Khan is a multitalented spoken word poet, hip hop artist, proficient didgeridoo player, and harmonica beat-boxer. Since 2006, he has built a formidable career in spoken word poetry, culminating in taking out the title of the Australian Poetry Slam Champion in 2014.
Students were delighted to take part in the 90-minute Poetry Bootcamp Workshop which was organised in conjunction with the English Program and utilised performance activities and writing exercises designed to teach and develop poetry techniques.
Our students were very impressed with Zohab Khan as not only is he a great performance artist but he also possesses an innate ability to engage with his audience. His high energy style and ability to connect with students was both entertaining and inspiring. Students are now very keen to get their creative poetry juices flowing!
