Round Square Poster Design
Year 11 VCD students were set the task of designing a poster for the 2020 Round Square Conference. As part of the brief they had to not only promote the conference but also communicate the two themes of the conference: United Nations Global Goals Number 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and 13: Climate Action. Unfortunately, the conference was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic however this didn’t dampen our students’ creativity or endeavour and they designed some exceptional work.
“After a summer of devastating bushfires and as Term 1 evolved and the pandemic unfolded, the Round Square International Conference was cancelled and these two goals became immediately apparent as students witnessed never seen before global behaviour and action. As a class we adopted the humble roll of toilet paper as a symbol of Irresponsible Consumption and the conference tagline of Take less: Be more became all the more pertinent,” said teacher Georgia Thorpe.
This project resonated incredibly well with our Year 11 students and the standard of work was very high across the two classes, students were also asked to consider the design style of well-known mid-century illustrator Charley Harper as inspiration.
Well done to everyone who submitted their work and congratulations to the four finalists: Charlotte, Zoe, Don Lam and Pedro.
