Relay For Life
Students rose to the challenge and raised vital funds for cancer patients in Relay For Life. This event is a fun and moving experience that raises much-needed funds for the Cancer Council. A chance conversation piqued new Year 7 student, Elora’s interest in the challenge as she thought that it would be a fun way to help others.
She enlisted her brothers’ Josh and James as well as new Year 7 student, Tharinie and current Year 10 student Andrea. Team Elora not only managed to secure the Highest Fundraising Team but they also raised an outstanding $5,577 for Cancer Council Victoria.
Although the day was challenging, as it involved walking laps for nine hours, it was also inspirational and Elora found the experience very moving. The day commenced with a survivors and carers lap and everyone stood around the track and applauded as cancer survivors and their carers did a lap of honour.
Live bands played music throughout the day, helping to create a fun atmosphere for walkers, and then at the end of the event, a candle ceremony was held where people were encouraged to pin a photo of their loved one who was either fighting cancer or who had lost their battle with cancer.
This is a such a worthy cause and we congratulate Team Elora and all the students and parents involved for the outstanding contribution they have made to the Cancer Council.
