Primary Athletics Morning
The annual Buckley House Prep to Year 2 athletics morning took place on Friday 4 November. It was a lovely sunny morning that saw the 130 children in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 converge on the North Ground for the rotational morning of activities. This is always a popular day for parents and once again the oval was packed with parents with their phones and cameras charged and ready to capture that classic snap.
The athletics morning consisted of 6 x 15 minute rotations. The boys and Girls rotated in their age and gender groups participating in athletic events including Long Jump, High Jump, Hurdles, Relay Races, Long Distance Running and the Tennis Ball Throw. At the end of the rotations every child went to the top of the running track and lined up for a 60m sprint against their friends from the other houses. These sprints are a sea of colour and determined faces and students are all ecstatic at the finish line when they are greeted with a ribbon and an icy pole!
Overall the carnival was again a big success, judged by the smiles on all the students (and the parents) faces!
A big thank you must go to the Prep to Year 2 teachers for running the events all morning and to our 18 Year 6 leaders who rotated around with the Prep to Year 2 children and kept them organised and made sure they were enjoying themselves.
