Music in the Round: A Night of Performance Excellence
On the evening of Wednesday 19 March, the highly anticipated Music in the Round soiree concert took place at ArtsEdge at Locksley, bringing together over 100 music performers from Years 7 to 12 for an unforgettable celebration of musical talent. The event highlighted the diverse range of contemporary and classical repertoire, showcasing an outstanding array of solo and small group performances.
The concert was a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our students. The performers, ranging from younger musicians to seasoned talent, captivated the audience with their musicality and precision. From classical piano solos to modern vocal arrangements, each performance was a stunning display of skill and artistry.
A special congratulations goes to every student who performed in the concert. Your dedication and hard work shone through in every note and every chord. The evening was a beautiful reminder of the incredible musical talent within our school community, and it was a privilege to witness such outstanding performances.
Thank you to the teachers and staff who worked tirelessly to make Music in the Round such a success and to our Music Administrator Erin Lofthouse whose guidance and support were instrumental in bringing this event to life. Special thanks to the accompanists Mark Fitzgibbon, Hue Blanes, Suzanne Andrews, and Tom Stewart-Toner, and to the Head of Piano, Joyce Chahine, for leading the evening. Music in the Round was an evening filled with exceptional talent, and we look forward to future performances that continue to celebrate the power of music and the creative spirit of our students.
Recently, we also held the first “Gigs@The Ridge” Lunchtime concert series and celebrated International Women’s Day featuring performances from our outstanding female performers. From soulful vocal performances to captivating instrumental solos, each act was a testament to the dedication of our female student performers.
The event not only celebrated their musical achievements but also underscored the importance of gender equality and empowerment in the arts. It was a memorable afternoon filled with exceptional music, unity, and the spirit of International Women’s Day. Gigs@The Ridge will continue as a monthly performance series, providing ongoing opportunities to celebrate and enjoy the diverse talents within our community.
