Lion King JR to Receive Award of Excellence at the Bruce Awards
We are delighted to announce that the Plenty Campus production of the Lion King JR will receive an Award of Excellence at the Bruce Awards, presented by the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria.
‘This is a testament to the incredible team effort from our dedicated staff and parent volunteers who created something truly remarkable,’ said Head of Primary at Plenty Campus, Darren Gibson.
Two sessions, a matinee and evening performance were held on Thursday 20 October. The Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention centre was transformed into the African savannah with Simba, Rafiki, Scar and a huge cast of characters coming to life on stage. After the uncertainty of previous years, students were bursting with excitement to be able to perform on stage again and they didn’t disappoint.
The music and costumes were exceptional and a testament to the staff and parent volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The story followed the adventures of the young lion cub Simba, his family and friends. With a resounding message of friendship, hope and unconditional love, this classic tale is filled with inspiration and is a firm family favourite.
The Awards Evening is on Saturday 10 December 2022 at Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University Clayton. We will be sending a delegation to receive this award on behalf of our School.
