Japan Language Tour

During the mid-year break a number of international trips take place. One of these is the Middle Years, cross campus Japanese Language Tour which left on Thursday 23 June for Japan and will return to Melbourne on Thursday 7 July.

Students have been enjoying the sights and sounds of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Immersed in culture, tradition and history, the students have already increased their fluency in Japanese.

Many highlights of the trip thus far include the Osaka Castle and wandering the shopping streets of Akihabara, a district known for technology and anime. The students have also explored many Japanese Buddhist traditions in the Kiyomizu temple. In Sennichimae Doguya-suji, a famous street for manufacturing fake food used for shop displays, students completed an Amazing Race.

Amongst the sightseeing, students visited the Tokyo Metropolitan fire brigade’s natural disaster education centre and completed emergency procedure activities. They also took a Shinkansen (high speed railway line) to Kyoto and visited the Golden Pavilion and watched a cultural performance in the Gion theatre. Students are thoroughly enjoying their visit to Japan and are looking forward to more exploring and learning.
