Ivanhoe District Soccer Championships – Girls’ team crowned Champions
The IDSSA Soccer Championships was held recently at the Darebin soccer fields, and it was an incredible day filled with fun, excitement, and sportsmanship. The event saw 10 schools from the IDSSA competing against each other.
Buckley House sent both girls’ and boys’ teams to compete in the championships. The teams had an amazing time playing and gave their best efforts on the field. The boys’ team fought hard and played exceptionally well, but they lost their semi-final to the eventual champions. Nonetheless, they should be proud of their efforts and the remarkable improvement they showed throughout the day. The team was coached by David (Doc) O’Connor, who provided them with expert guidance and helped them gel as a team.
The girls’ team went undefeated throughout the tournament and made it through to the finals with their impressive gameplay. They were exceptional in both the semi-finals and the grand final, where they won the championship with a remarkable 5-0 victory. The girls’ team was coached by Pat O’Connor, who did a magnificent job in preparing them for the championships and helping them secure the win.
The Years 5 and 6 girls’ team will now go on to represent the IDSSA and, of course, Buckley House, at the Division Championships early in Term 3. It’s an incredible achievement for them, and we wish them all the best for their upcoming competition.
Overall, the IDSSA Soccer Championships was an incredible event that brought together young athletes from different schools to showcase their skills and passion for the sport. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and team spirit displayed by all the players, coaches, and supporters.
