International students visit Government House
The Governor of Victoria, Alex Chernov AC QC and his wife Mrs Elizabeth Chernov, warmly welcomed international students from State, Independent and Catholic schools to a reception at Government House on Wednesday 19 March.
The weather was kind which allowed the students to enjoy the beautiful Fountain Court area, the Ball Room as well as the State Apartment area of Government House. After Governor Chernov formally welcomed his guests, he spent some time mingling informally with the students, speaking directly to them about their various experiences studying in Victorian Schools.
,, Students were able to mingle and chat at the reception not only with the Governor but also with the Minister for Education, the Hon. Martin Dixon, MP. The students were offered two pieces of very good advice: learn to swim and follow an AFL team.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was great to see International students from differnet schools come together in this lovely setting.
Ivanhoe Grammar School offers a robust International program for students of all nationalities and faiths and the ELICOS centre at The Ridgeway Campus offers a program of intensive English instruction for newly arrived students from overseas. To read all about the International offering click here
