International Centre
During Term 3, our international students have been productive and keeping busy, taking part in excursions and activities. At the start of the term, the International Student Council and the New and International prefects extended a warm welcome to our international students at Ivanhoe. This took the form of a special lunch held at the International Centre. Students not only enjoyed the meal but also valued the chance to forge new friendships.
As part of their Orientation and Academic Programs, our new ELICOS students embarked on a city excursion. They explored the State Library of Victoria and the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre located at the Melbourne Museum. During this outing, students absorbed a wealth of information. They gained insights into the Library’s abundant resources and the First Peoples Exhibition showcased at the Museum. This exhibition honours the culture, history, and languages of Victoria’s Indigenous peoples. Moreover, the students also familiarised themselves with Melbourne’s public transportation system.
To provide robust support for our international students’ higher education aspirations and VTAC applications, a dedicated Tertiary Options session was conducted at Ivanhoe’s International Centre on Tuesday 8 August. This session was beneficial as it offered direct interaction between students and representatives from eight tertiary institutions. The discussions covered various aspects including courses, accommodation choices, entry prerequisites, and university life.
