International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition
Four students from the Graduating Class of 2023 had their artworks selected in the prestigious International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition held at the Glen Eira Town Hall Gallery, Caulfield. The Opening night was attended by Graduate students and exhibitors Sebastian Berryman and Isabel Smith and families, IB Coordinator Dr Nicholas Mercer, Head of Pedagogy – the Arts Jacinta Patterson, Dean of International Students, Leisl Bruhn, IB Visual Arts Committee member and IB Visual Art teacher, Georgia Thorpe and IB Visual Art teacher Catherine Gill.
The annual exhibition features selected artworks from IB schools across Victoria and Tasmania and coincides with the IB Visual Arts seminar. The seminar is opportunely held at the Glen Eira Town Hall for current year 11 and 12 IB Visual Arts students from all schools and features highly valuable talks by assessors, practising artists and graduate students, who speak candidly in front of their exhibited artworks on the trials and successes when undertaking IB Visual Arts. The seminar was attended by 25 IB students on Sunday 11 February.
Year 12 students Victoria and Lavinia shared their reflections on the seminar.
‘Although I had a good understanding of the course requirements, it was so good to see what students from other schools are focusing on with their artworks.’
‘The level of skill and dedication to reach very high standards was really inspiring,’
‘It was great to hear graduate students give genuine tips about how they managed their time and dealt with problems when they arose.’
