International Assembly
All members of the 2016 International Student Council have worked tirelessly throughout the year preparing for the recent International Assembly, an entirely student organised event. Prefect Alan Xu ably led the assembly along with Rayburn Ma and Ryo Yoshida.
The audience was given an insight into life of an international student studying abroad without the day to day support of immediate family and was further entertained by a beautiful traditional Chinese duet by Shaun Zhang and Lilac Wang as well as demonstrations of traditional childhood toys from different cultures and some beautiful Japanese and Chinese calligraphy demonstrations by Ryo Yoshida Sebastian Zhang.
The University of Melbourne’s MSPI Academic Achievement Award and the Monash University EAL Academic Award were also presented at the assembly to worthy recipient of both awards, Matt Deng.
International students first attended Ivanhoe Grammar School in 1943 from Malaysia and Indonesia. Since then the school has welcomed students from all over South East Asia.
The School is a co-educational day school of over 2000 students and is endorsed to enrol international students from Preparatory to Year 12. Students can enrol at The Ridgeway Campus in Ivanhoe or Plenty Campus in Mernda. Ivanhoe Grammar School welcomes students of all nationalities and faiths, and values the richness of its population, which reflects the multi-cultural nature of contemporary Australian society.
