IDSSA Basketball Round Robin
Buckley House recently showcased their sporting prowess and team spirit at the highly anticipated IDSSA (Ivanhoe District Schools Sports Association) Basketball Round Robin. Held at the beautiful Sports and Aquatic Centre, the event brought together ten schools from the surrounding Ivanhoe District. The day was a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and friendly competition, and Buckley House Primary’s participation was nothing short of exceptional.
The IDSSA Basketball Round Robin began with a palpable sense of excitement as schools arrived, proudly donned in their respective team colours. The Sports and Aquatic Centre, with its dual-level basketball courts, provided the perfect backdrop for this thrilling event. The atmosphere was electric, and the spirit of community was evident from the very start.
One of the key factors that contributed to the event’s success was the excellent officiating by the Ivanhoe Knights. These dedicated referees ensured that each match was played fairly and with utmost sportsmanship, allowing the students to fully enjoy the competition while upholding the values of respect and fair play.
Buckley House left an indelible mark on the tournament. The Girls’ team showcased their skill and determination, progressing to the semi-finals. Their semi-final match was nothing short of electrifying, culminating in a thrilling victory as the final buzzer sounded. Their journey ultimately led them to the Grand Final, where they displayed their sportsmanship and teamwork, finishing as worthy runners-up. The Boys’ team from Buckley House also demonstrated their mettle, advancing to the finals and ultimately securing a Grand Final win.
Buckley House extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr Macinerney, who coached the Boys’ team, and Jessica Del Brocco, head coach for the Girls’ team. Special mention also to assistant coaches Hannah K and Hanna A from Year 10, who provided invaluable support to the Girls’ team and Mr Keuneman for supporting the day’s proceedings. Their commitment to the players’ growth and their passion for the sport played a pivotal role in our team’s success.
Well done especially to all the players, Buckley House would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the parents who attended the event. Your unwavering support and encouragement for our students contributed to the day’s success and created a memorable experience for everyone.
