High Performance Golf Leadership Camp

The inaugural High-Performance Golf Leadership Camp was held over the summer holidays. This camp was designed to provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills, foster personal growth, and prepare for success in a high-performance sporting environment.

The golf trip over the summer holidays was a fantastic opportunity for the team to play some incredible courses along the Mornington Peninsula while strengthening our team culture. We were fortunate to experience a range of challenges at St Andrews, The Dunes, Moonah Links, and Cape Schanck, each offering unique conditions that tested our adaptability.

The exposure to different courses and unfamiliar environments helped the squad refine their skills and adjust to varying playing conditions. Our performances were mixed, with Louis Inifer and Jeremy Rodgers displaying impressive consistency over the four rounds. Meanwhile, Romi Simkus put on a chipping masterclass both on and off the greens, and I was able to secure a competition win. Notably, Mr Ernest shone throughout the trip, despite breaking the shaft of his driver during the third round. Overall, the trip was a valuable experience that not only improved our games but also brought us closer as a team.

This experience went beyond golf; it was a vital opportunity for character development and leadership growth. Students were pushed to adapt to new environments, think strategically, and support one another under pressure. These moments of growth will be crucial as we prepare for the upcoming APS and AGSV tournaments, where leadership, teamwork, and resilience will be just as important as skill. We look forward to offering more expansive trips like this one in the years to come, with our sights set on New Zealand, where we’ll continue to build on these lessons and further strengthen our program.
