Graduate Art & Design Exhibition
The opening night of this year’s Year 12 Art and Design Exhibition was spectacular, with a huge crowd of guests filling the Visual Arts spaces in Locksley and our Ping Pong Gallery. Family, friends, and community members gathered to celebrate our students’ incredible achievements across disciplines such as Art Making and Exhibiting, IB Visual Arts, Media Studies, Product Design and Technology, and Visual Communication Design.
The atmosphere was buzzing, as everyone took a moment to appreciate the creativity and hard work of the Class of 2024. Staff and students were overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible turnout and support. Significant art and design awards were announced throughout the evening, including the prestigious Randal Marsh awards, judged by Georgie Cleary of Alpha60 and renowned fashion designer Megan Park. The OIGA Media Award was presented by Geoff Brown from the Class of 1962, current Development Manager along with The Centenary Product Design and Technology Award. Danielle Scaramuzzino from Eckersley’s presented three independent Art & Design awards along with Georgie Cleary and Megan Park who created a new award for the evening due to the high standard of works being exhibited.
We were also fortunate to welcome special guests Tim Sligo, Executive Director of Heide Museum of Modern Art and son of former school principal Reverend Charles Sligo, and Evelyn Tsitas, Learning and Engagement Manager at Heide. Tim was particularly impressed by the diversity and quality of work on display and was delighted to hear about the School’s strong emphasis on fostering creativity and the arts. He also enjoyed revisiting the school’s new, state-of-the-art facilities while reminiscing about his school days.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of our Art and Design staff, who have been instrumental in guiding and supporting our students through their creative journeys. Their hard work and passion are reflected in the success of this exhibition and the outstanding quality of the works displayed.
