Girls’ Volleyball Qualify For State Championships
On Thursday 31 October the Buckley House Girls Years 5 and 6 Volleyball team ventured out to Plenty Parklands Primary School for the Northern Metropolitan Regional Championships. The best teams from the Northern Region of Melbourne attend this event with the winner earning the right to represent the region at the State Championships
The team worked hard all year and they attended the championships full of confidence after doing well at the earlier stages to get to the Regional finals. At the event, we knew our first game would possibly seal our fate. We were up against the perennial state finalists in Marymeade Primary School. In a close and tense battle, Ivanhoe won the first set, before they got on a roll and won the second set. In the deciding 3rd set the girls dug in and were able to grab a narrow yet impressive win. The team were then able to go and win the rest of their round-robin games and take out the Championship!
The exciting news is that the team now heads to the State Finals at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong on Friday 22 November to try and bring back a State Championship to Buckley House. Good luck girls and regardless of your result at the State Championships we are all very proud of what you have achieved so far
