Finalists in French Poetry Competition
Earlier this year, students from Years 7 and 8 took part in the annual Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition conducted by the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne. The Competition provides students with an opportunity to practice the French language and attracts thousands of candidates each year.
Thirteen French students from Years 7 and 8 have achieved a Brilliant 20/20 mark for their poetry competition and these finalists are invited to the Alliance Francaise in Saint Kilda at the end of July to recite again and compete against other schools in their recitations.
The examiners are under strict guidelines to only award this grade to the crème de la crème so it’s especially wonderful to see so many of Ivanhoe’s students represented in this category. This would not have been possible without the hardwork and dedication from the French Teachers who helped prepare the students as they learn and memorised the French poem.
