Equestrian Championships
The 2015 Victorian Interschool Equestrian Championships were held from Monday 29 June to Friday 3 July at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre during the Term 2 break. This was a huge event, with over 550 riders from Primary and Secondary Schools throughout Victoria. Ivanhoe Grammar School was represented by its youngest Equestrian team ever: Jessica (Year 10), Brigitte (Year 10), Jorjia (Year 10), Lily (Year 8), Edward (Year 8), Clancy (Year 7), and Alice (Year 4).
Jess competed with success on several horses in Show Jumping, Dressage and Combined Training, winning the Overall Championships for Show Jumping in the 100cm class, which qualifies her to represent Victoria at the Australian Interschool Championships in Sydney later this year. Jess also placed 6th in the Combined Training and 10th in the Medium Dressage.
Brigitte competed in the Novice and Elementary Dressage and the Combined Training, placing 4th overall in the Novice Dressage Championships with a personal best score. Edward won the Secondary Handy Mount, placed 1st, 2nd and 7th in the 95cm Show Jumping classes and placed 3rd overall in the Show Jumping Championships in the 95cm class. Clancy competed on several horses placing 6th in the Combined Training and was in the top 10 in the 90cm Show Jumping. Jorjia placed 9th in the Medium Dressage and Lily competed in the Preliminary Dressage, Combined Training and Handy Mount. Alice, our only Primary rider, placed 4th in the Primary Handy mount and 5th in the Games and Novelties.
All students performed to their personal best and are to be congratulated on the way they involved themselves in this Event. It is a wonderful experience to compete at State Championship level amongst the top riders in Victoria and all riders should be proud of their achievements. It was a big week for these riders their families and the School is extremely grateful for the parents and their continued support.
