Year 7 student Cooper has recently been selected to represent Victoria at the prestigious Bruce Cup Tennis tournament.
The Bruce Cup is an annual national primary school team event which has been played since 1938. Many players who have won Wimbledon and went on to become the finest players in the world played their first representative matches for their state in The Bruce Cup. For example Rod Laver, Pat Rafter, Todd Woodbridge, Mark Philippoussis, Rachel McQuillan and Evie Dominokovic, who have all performed with distinction on the international scene, once played in The Bruce Cup.
The Bruce Cup is conducted by School Sport Australia (SSA) in partnership with Tennis Australia and provides primary school children with an opportunity to represent their state and participate in a national tennis championships. Cooper is a Year 7 student, however due to his age ranking he is eligible to participate in the tournament.
The Bruce Cup will take place from Saturday 17 to Saturday 24 October and we wish Cooper all the very best as he prepares for the tournament.
