CETA Study Tour from Thailand
At the beginning of Term 3, Ivanhoe Grammar School welcomed a group of 18 students from Thailand along with their tour leader Ms Benjarat Noppornprom. The visiting students experienced a taste of school life at both The Ridgeway Campus and Plenty Campus during their five day stay. Under the expert guidance and teaching of Mrs Lynne Lloyd, the students took part in specific English classes focussing on the history of Australian immigration as well as honing their oral language skills. The tour students attended classes in various subjects with their mainstream ‘buddies’ which included Year 7, 8 and 10 students, along with excursions to Melbourne’s Immigration Museum and the Aquarium. Our Melbourne winter was a little difficult for some of the students to cope with at first but by the end of the tour many of them were happily acclimatised to the cold conditions. The experience was a cross cultural exchange for both the Thai students and the students of Ivanhoe Grammar School as well as for the families that hosted the visiting students.
