The 2019 Cadet Camp ran from Sunday 31 March to Friday 5 April in the Yackandandah State Forest. The 2019 Cadet Camp was a huge success with students from across the school participating.
The Ivanhoe Grammar School Cadet Program involves all students in a program including living in the field skills, orienteering and instructional periods on first aid, radio and the use of compasses.
The Annual Camp constitutes the culmination of the Cadet Unit training Program, practising skills learned in an outdoor environment. This is a very important camp and is a pre-requisite to be considered for attendance on future leadership courses.
Students had a great time participating in a wide range of activities such as living in a field environment, conducting navigation exercises, taking part in team games and quick-decision exercises.
A fond farewell was given to Rita Dawe who has given many years of service to the School, 23 in total! She started as a part-time nurse and clerical officer and soon after became the School’s, Head Nurse. Rita is a well-known and much-trusted figure around the School.
Her additional involvement in Cadets, school camps and the coordination and running of our staff training sessions is a credit to her dedication and strong work ethic. We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
