Buckley House Paris Olympics
Students and staff had a wonderful day celebrating their very own Olympics. Though a little chillier than Paris at this time of year, students enthusiastically enjoyed taking part in an opening ceremony and competition on the North Ground. They learnt all about the history of the Olympics, different cultures and the many and varied sports that make up the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Primary students in each year level were randomly assigned a country to represent, parading and competing for their team. The colourful event was a great way for students to celebrate a world event with each team parading their country in front of the rest of the school and spectators, mimicking the athletes’ march into the stadium during the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Following the parade, students participated in the Buckley House Modern Pentathlon, a unique Olympic event comprising various challenges that students had to navigate as quickly as possible.
It was lovely to see so many parents in attendance cheering on their athletes.
