On Tuesday 28 May the Buckley House Cross Country Team ventured to the Banyule Flats for the first stage of their competitions, the Ivanhoe District Cross Country Championships.
We sent a strong team of 55 to battle it out over the 2km and 3km courses. The Top 10 in each age group race qualified for the Banyule Division Championships at Bundoora Park the following week.
All our participants finished the course in personal best times and represented themselves and the School in a great way. In some very tough races, where we saw 80-90 runners in each race, we were lucky enough to have six students finish in the Top 10.
Cleo, Callum, Maisie, Bentley, George and Luke made up the team members who qualified to participate in the Banyule Division Championships at Bundoora Park on Wednesday 5 June. Once again, all our competitors applied themselves wonderfully and we were thrilled to get four competitors through to the Top 10 and qualify for the Northern Metropolitan Championships in the last week of term.
This is the penultimate step heading into the State Finals. A Top 10 placing at the Regional Finals will mean qualification into the State Championships early next term. Congratulations to Cleo (1st), Luke (2nd), Bentley (8th) and Maisie (10th) for qualifying in their respective age groups and good luck back at Bundoora Park on Wednesday 19 June for the Regional finals.
