The Alfred Experience
During the Term 1 school holidays, a group of Year 12 students, Chanelle Warton, Louisa Li, Angela Kang, Kate Wishart and Jessica Wyllie attended The Alfred Experience.
The Alfred Experience is a half day program organised by La Trobe University at The Alfred Clinical School. The event provided students with a state-of-the-art learning experience in the field of Health Sciences. This included a tour of the clinical school, ICU and Emergency wards, nursing simulation with ICU nurses and an opportunity to speak with current health science students studying at The Alfred Hospital.
The students involved said the day was really beneficial allowing them to get hands on experience and giving them an insight into what a future career in the health and medical industry would be like.
There is a varied and interesting range of work experience opportunities at Ivanhoe Grammar School in the senior years. The School also offers a biennial Careers Expo for students in Years 10 – 12.
The Careers Expo brings together a broad range of representatives from tertiary institutions and industry speakers who provide a broad range of expertise and valuable information, including a large contingent of returning alumni. The 2014 Careers Expo is running on Thursday 29 May. Click here for all the details
