The 2016 Victorian da Vinci Decathlon

The 2016 da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and extend high-achieving students.

The Plenty Campus team comprised of the following Year 7 students: James, Josh, Bobby, Luke, Emily, Frank, Saravanan and Charlotte. Isabella, Ben, Chris, Kate, Archer, Emilie, Sienna and Harrison made up The Ridgeway Campus team. These students competed against 14 other schools in the regional final on Monday 16 May. The students departed the School at 7.00am and headed to Overnewton Anglican Community College, ready to begin the academic Decathlon at 8.15am. The team members were excellent ambassadors for the School and the students thoroughly enjoyed the day.

The Ridgeway Campus team placed 6th overall and came 2nd in the Art and Poetry division and 3rd in the Creative Producers (Drama) section which was very impressive. The Plenty Campus team placed 5th overall and came 2nd in both the Cartography division and Creative Producers division. Working in their respective teams, our Ivanhoe Grammar School students tackled the different subject areas with enthusiasm and passion and showed sportsmanship to a level beyond their age group. The teams have sacrificed many lunchtimes leading up to yesterday’s competition and should be congratulated on their efforts. It was a very intense and intellectually challenging day. Congratulations to them all! In the end, Scotch College won and will advance to the state finals next week.
