Round Square Research Symposium
On Tuesday 12 of June, three members of the Ivanhoe community, Deputy Principal/Head of Plenty Campus, Dan Brown and two Year 11 students Stefan Fazzino and Annaliese Filippis flew to Harvard University in Boston to be involved in a Round Square Research Symposium at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Ivanhoe Grammar School was the only Australian School invited and selected as a Research Ambassador School. The research project is led by Dr Christina Hinton from Harvard GSE and her team at Research Schools International (RSI) and considers How Round Square Schools develop students’ International Understanding. This two-year study looks into how educators in the Round Square community of 180 schools in 50 countries support students’ development of International Understanding.
The Round Square International Symposium ran for two days from Friday 15 June to Saturday 16 June with Teachers and students from 12 countries coming together for a weekend of discovery and development. Our students alongside Mr Dan Brown were asked to contribute their reflections on global competencies and how our School developed these competencies and the activities and initiatives that have taken place. Our students worked in International teams to deliver presentations amongst many other activities.
Dan Brown had this to say about our School’s involvement in the project, “Ivanhoe Grammar School is excited to be working with Research Schools International, led by Dr Christina Hinton from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, on a global study of international understanding in Round Square Schools.” Our students represented the School extremely well and relished the amazing opportunity to be part of this exciting international research project.
