Student dons the Big V
Year 10 student Laura Mayne had the honour of playing in the ruck for the Victorian Metro Under 16 AFL team at Simonds Stadium in Geelong on Saturday. Laura and the Metro team (pictured) had a 15 point win over the Victorian Country team, and Laura won a majority of the hit outs.
Laura is no stranger to high level sport, playing in the ruck for the Oakleigh Chargers Under 18 Team in the TAC Cup and playing regular football in the Youth Girls Division 1 Team at Templestowe. But it’s a huge honour to don the Big V jumper in a game that features the best girls’ footballers in Victoria.
