8 Buckley House Swimmers Qualify for the State Finals
Buckley House took a very strong team of 20 to the Northern Metropolitan Swimming Championships last week. That comprised 5 relay teams, with some of the relay swimmers also qualifying in individual events. We normally get a handful of swimmers get through to this stage each year, however Buckley House has never been represented by 20 swimmers at this penultimate event.
Performing brilliantly for their last two swim meets, the Buckley House swim team made no exception this time.
The Northern Metropolitan Swimming Championships is always a brutally tough event with competitors of a very high standard, many of whom are up-and-coming state champions. Earlier in the program we achieved some silver and bronze medals in the individual events – which is amazing – but at this cut-throat event, only the winner goes through to State Finals.
During the relays our teams swam their hearts out and were all very competitive. The huge highlight being 2 of our teams winning, getting the Gold Medals and qualifying for the State Swimming Championships to be held at MSAC next term on April 26th.
The winning teams were:
Under 10 Girls – Grace Alberti, Lucy Clark, Cleo Bruscino-Raiola and Nicola Sakkas
Under 12 Boys – Hamish Chapman, Oscar Corlett, Lucuis Bruscino-Raiola & Hamish Rouch
