International Baccalaureate Awards Ceremony
On Wednesday 15 February the School hosted the prestigious IB Awards Ceremony at Deakin Edge, Federation Square. This is the event where IB students from 18 Victorian and Tasmanian schools who have achieved a score of 40 + are acknowledged by their peers, parents and staff. The role of host is rotated amongst the IB schools and this was Ivanhoe’s chance to shine.
The talents of Ivanhoe’s student musicians were on display alongside performers from The Ridgeway and Plenty Campus – the String Quartet, cast members from the production of “Songs for a New World” and the Plenty 2019 Band. They are all to be congratulated on their phenomenal performances.
Other highlights included a speech by Dr Catherine Brock (OIG 2009), former Vice-Captain of The Ridgeway Campus and IB student, who gave the audience an insight into why she chose to study the IB, her journey since leaving school and the wonderful opportunities that await these graduates. Olivia Leyden, the 2016 Dux, speaking on behalf of all graduates present, was also inspiring and aspirational. Just when you thought the night could not get any better, the audience was treated to a magnificent rendition of “You Raise Me Up” by past student Ben Clark (OIG 2002) and former member of the internationally renowned Ten Tenors.
The night was a huge success and would not have been possible without all the help from staff and students who trully made it an evening of genuine celebration and a night for Ivanhoe Grammar School to shine.
