Performing Arts Concert
The annual celebration of the Performing Arts was held on Thursday 1 September. The Gymnasium was transformed into a spectacular venue, with extended stage, raked seating and professional sound and lighting.
The concert opened with the “Black Forrest Overture” followed by the “Soul Bossanova”, performed by the Orchestra to set the scene for a varied and entertaining program. Highlights included excellent performances from the Junior and Senior Primary Choirs and the Primary Chamber Strings, conducted by Ms Hill.
Secondary performances included an A Cappella and percussion version of Adele’s “Send my Love” by the aptly named 2019 Band. The Jazz Band, conducted by Mr Chappel, accompanied the Male Choir as well as the Secondary Choir. Flute, Brass, Guitar, String, Clarinet and Percussion ensembles added variety to the concert, and the newly formed Dance group were very impressive.
The VCE students also provided excellent performances with the Year 11 and Year 12 classes completing the Group Performance work requirements as well! The overall standard was extremely high. There was a real sense of excitement and all students performed with confidence. They were clearly enjoying themselves.
The Finale, “God Only Knows”, was performed by the combined Choir and Orchestra, providing a fitting end to an outstanding evening of Music and Dance.
