On Thursday 18 August the Ridgeway Wind Symphony played at Deakin Edge and won silver at The Victorian School Music Festival.
The Victorian School Music Festival brings school bands together to perform and compete in Victoria’s premier performing spaces. On Thursday 18 August the Ridgeway Wind Symphony won silver after playing against, Wesley Grammar, Carey Baptist, Scotch, Genazzano, St Kevin’s, St Catherine’s, Caulfield Grammar, Loreto Manderville, MacRobertson GHS, Brighton Grammar, Korowa, Tintern, PLC, Loyloa, Eltham High, Blackburn High, Camberwell High, Balwyn High and another 30 schools.
This is a wonderful achievement by some very talented musicians and it is wonderful to have Ivanhoe Grammar School represented for music at this state level competition. The judges made special mention of how well the Ivanhoe students presented themselves and what a big and balanced sound they made.
This is a wonderful experience for young musicians who not only get to play in performing spaces of such a high calibre, in front of an audience made up of their peers, but also get the opportunity to work with leading music educators.
Congratulations to the Ridgeway Wind Symphony on winning silver!
