Alumni vs Student Debate
The inaugural Ivanhoe Grammar School Alumni vs Student debate took place in Buckley Hall on Friday 5 August. There was a wonderful energy and sense of excitement in the hall as the debaters made their way onto the stage. The event showcased the talent of Year 12 debaters and former Ivanhoe students.
Representing the Year 12 student team were: William Rothnie, Adam Ziogas and Finn Turpin. Representing the alumni: Edward Wright, Idil Mohamud and Jess Clarence. The topic of the debate was: That politicians should focus more on the young and less on the old.
It was a light-hearted debate, with plenty of cheesy puns and digs at politicians and had the audience laughing all the way through.
The students debated the affirmative side but it was the Alumni team that were victorious taking out the cup this year.
